Tindersticks: Blood

Continuando a saga "Festival para Gente Sentada", e relatando o excelente concerto dos Tindersticks, podemos neste vídeo ouvir a inconfundível voz de Stuart Staples. Ainda não os tinha visto em concerto, mas já estavam na minha lista há bastante tempo. A banda é incrivelmente articulada, cheia de excelentes temas e com uma postura em palco que me agrada imenso.

Continuing the saga "Festival para Gente Sentada," and commenting the excellent reporting of the Tindersticks concert, in this video we can hear the unmistakable voice of Stuart Staples. I still hadn't seen them in concert, but they were already on my list for quite some time. The band is incredibly articulate, full of great themes and has an on stage attitude that pleases me immensely.

Low: Nothing but Heart

Continuando a saga do "Festival para Gente Sentada", admito que estava com grandes expectativas para ver os Low, mais ainda do que dos Tindersticks, principalmente porque tinha gostado imenso do último disco da banda: C'mon. Assim, com grandes expectativas, costumam vir grandes desilusões...

Não foi o caso. Os Low cumpriram exactamente aquilo que esperava. Pode até ver-se algo de menos positivo nesta afirmação, mas não o sinto. A banda deu-nos muitos momentos calmos onde a voz de Mimi combina angelicamente com a de Alan, o casal harmoniza fabulosamente, e alguns momentos mais agressivos.

Os ritmos hipnóticos, as vozes afinadíssimas, o excelente reportório, criaram um ambiente que se enchia de palmas a cada término das canções.

Continuing the saga of the "Festival para Gente Sentada", I admit I had high expectations to see the band "Low", even more than "Tindersticks", mainly because I liked a lot the last album of the band: "C'mon". Usually, with great expectations comes great disappointments... But not this time. "Low" fulfilled exactly what I was expecting. You may think something is less positive in this statement, but do not feel it. The band gave us many quiet moments where the angelic voice of Mimi combines with Alan, the couple harmonizes fabulously, and some times more aggressive moments. The hypnotic rhythms, fabulous harmonies , excellent repertoire, created an environment that was filled with sheers at each end of the songs.

A Jigsaw: Red Pony

Ainda em relação ao Festival para Gente Sentada, noite 1, os "Jigsaw" mostraram que realmente são uma grande banda. Também mostraram que têm muitos instrumentos. Eles gostam muito de instrumentos. Alguns deles até ardem em estúdio...

Mais a sério. São de facto uma excelente banda, e deram um grande concerto, mas um pouco mais de modéstia (do vocalista) ficaria muito bem.

PS: Um último reparo menos musical, a menina da banda é de uma elegância incrível.

Also in relation to the "Festival para Gente Sentada", the band "A Jigsaw" showed that they really are a great band. They also shown that they have many instruments. They like instruments. Some of them burn up in the studio... More seriously. They are indeed a great band, and gave a great concert, but a little more modesty (from the singer) would be fine. PS: One last coment, but not about the music, the girl in the band is incredibly eleganct.

Aquaparque: Longo Plano

O cartaz do "Festival para Gente Sentada" deste ano apresenta dois nomes que combatem a gravidade: Low e Tindersticks. Este nomes obrigam-nos a olhar para cima e dificultam-nos a tarefa de olhar para o que surge mais abaixo. No caso da noite passada, agravava-se pelos outros nomes surgirem num tipo de letra tão pequeno que só quando nos aproximamos do Cine Teatro António Lamoso é que começam a tornar-se legíveis (inversamente proporcional ao quadrado da distância). Assim, a cerca de uns quilómetros consegui ler outro nome: "a Jigsaw". Porreiro, pá, como diria Slyterin Salazar, já os tinha visto uma vez numa FNAC e até gostei bastante.

Uns metros antes de chegar ao Cine Teatro, uns amigos referem que há outra banda: os Aquaparque. Prontamente respondo: "não, não, isto é um ponto de referência para as pessoas encontrarem mais facilmente o local do espectáculo". Estava enganado. Confundi com Europarque. Confesso que já não me lembrava de ficar assim tão surpreendido num concerto desde que vi a grande banda "Hospital Psiquiátrico" a tocar guitarra com tesouras, enquanto no fundo tocavam com bidões e rebarbadeira. Os ritmos no teclado retirados dos lados B, dos "2 Unlimited" com a junção do som de uma guitarra pseudo-acústica, mergulhada em "reverb", é tão retro que quase se tornou vanguardista. Quase.

Como bom cidadão, liguei de imediato para a "Jazz Police" porque estou convencido que aquela combinação é proibida. Assim, adaptando o que dizia um amigo no jantar, não quero ser estimulado intelectualmente porque corro o risco de me tornar mais infeliz. E o governo não gosta; que eu seja estimulado, a parte do infeliz não há problema.

Lamentavelmente, a "Jazz Police" não chegou a tempo, mas queria aproveitar para pedir à organização do "Festival para Gente Sentada" não voltar a estimular-me com esta intensidade.

Matt Elliott: Dust, Flesh & Bones

Retirado de um grande disco: "Broken Man". Confesso já ter tido a sorte de o ver ao vivo e a uma distância semelhante à deste vídeo, mas reconheço que na altura não lhe dei o devido valor. Perdoem-me porque estou arrependido.

Danny Elfman: The Flash (Main Title)

Muito na linha do tema principal do Batman. Excelente música para fazer qualquer coisa apressada.

In the same line as the main theme from Batman. An excelent song to do something fast.

Robert Sherman: It's a small world

Em memória de Robert Sherman que morreu no passado dia 5 de Março. Tantas bandas sonoras (Jungle book, Mary Poppins, ...) e tantos sonhos que ajudou a criar.

In memory of Robert Sherman who died on the 5th of March. So many soundtracks (Jungle book, Mary Poppins, ...) and dreams he helped build.

Memoryhouse: Bonfire

Este projecto, inicialmente como um "outlet" artístico para o compositor Evan Abeele e para a fotógrafa Denise Nouvion, acabou por se materializar nesta banda. Tema muito interessante. Mais uma grande aposta da Sub Pop Records.
